Gain in method and large vehicle market despite slowdown: Tata Motors

Bangalore: Auto major Tata Engines these days said it has obtained significant business in method and large vehicle market, despite recession.

"The present financial predicament of Indian is not very good, as our market is linked directly. There is one to one correlation between development GDP and sale of our development vehicle.In that conditions market is down we are also down," Tata Engines head (sales and marketing) method & large professional automobiles Vinod Sahay told journalists here.

He said: "The great factor for Tata Engines is we have obtained significant business this season, for Tata ConsTruck we have obtained 6 % of business in this financial during the first half compared to last year- same period, and over all for method and large vehicles also we have obtained 2 % business."

Stating that Indian market has gone through conversion in last few decades especially with regards to competitiveness, he said " In spite of that we have been able to maintain overall business of 64-65 %, which has been our business for last few decades or so."

"For total method and large vehicles our business was around 63 % last season, which is now 65 %," he added.

To a query on revenue without divulging details, he said: "We are averaging at around 6,000 automobiles a month."

Mr Sahay said "The organization sells around 150 to 200 method and large vehicle automobiles in present times, in Karnataka."

Answering a query about decline in revenue due to exploration restrictions in the state, he said "it is about 50 %, we used to sell anywhere about 200 Tippers when exploration factor was on, and right now it is about 100 or so."

To a query on exports, he said "exports are also affected to some extent because global economy is also not doing very well, but yes contribution of exports has gone up in our overall discuss because their drop is not as much as Indian has shown."

The organization these days presented six new powerful development automobiles from its ConsTruck range of professional automobiles at the EXCON 2013 exhibition.
